Roots and Foundation
Gospel: Luke 6:43–49

Our lives show their true root in Christ by the fruit we bear each day. |
Jesus used powerful metaphors to explain discipleship. He taught that a person's character is revealed by their actions, just as a tree is known by its fruit. He also warned that simply hearing his words isn't enough; living them out truly builds a strong spiritual life, like a house built on a solid foundation.
True faith extends beyond what we say or external appearances; it's revealed in our actions and the outcomes of our lives. Through the powerful metaphors of a good tree bearing good fruit and a house built firmly on rock, Jesus illustrates that being a disciple means building deep roots and lasting foundations, not just making a quick impression.
It’s easier to talk about faith than to live it out. The storms of life, loss, illness, disappointments, and even daily frustrations reveal what our lives are built upon. Cracks soon show if our foundation is only convenience, popularity, or comfort. But when our lives are rooted in Christ, we discover strength that endures.
Hearing His words is only the beginning. Acting on them is what makes faith come alive. When we love, forgive, and serve, we build on solid rock, producing fruit others can taste and see.
True discipleship shows itself in action. May we let our roots go deep into Christ and build our lives on His foundation, so that whatever comes, we may stand firm.
May this reflection encourage you today, and let its light flow gently outward, like a blessing passed along.
